Defrost time

Atco came by today to set up this heater to thaw the ground so they can turn off the gas on Thursday.  The city is coming to turn off the water on Wednesday, and electricity will also be cut on Thursday.  We are on the last week before demo, and have alot of moving to do over the next few days.  We also have a fence to put up, a hot tub to empty and store and some neighbors to deal with.  Its going to be a busy week!!

Not much has been done in regards to planning over the past week.  We have met with some cabinet people to finalize some designs, we purchased a new fridge as Samsung was having an inventory blowout, and will look at the remaining appliances at the home show on Thursday.  We have a good idea on the bathtubs that we will need to order for framing, but other than that not much has been finalized.

Where we are now

Here it is!  This is what the new house will look like.

As of today we officially have most of our trades booked, the windows and doors have been ordered. We have begun the process of looking for cabinets, granite, and appliances.  Tomorrow we will pick out the bath tubs so they will be delivered during framing.

This will be the fireplace that will be a focal point in the listening room.

The blogging starts now!

I am going to use this blog over the next few months to record the progress and problems that we encounter building our new house.  This will be an exciting adventure and a learning process I am sure.

Our old house

We will be saying goodbye to our old house on March 3rd!  Its been a long time coming, planning started last April.  Our development permits were submitted to the city in August and were approved Christmas eve.  Since then it has been crazy lining up trades and starting to make decisions on the interior (I will get up to date on the next entry).  We have our services being turned off February 26th, and are in moving/storing mode now.

Here's to the next many months!
